Clinical Applications in Environmental Medicine
What You’ll Learn at EHS 2022:
Evaluation of disease through a toxicant exposure lens
Critical information from case presentations on mold, metals, and chronic infection
Understanding toxicity and vascular damage
How to address cellular damage and build immune resilience in children – our vulnerable population
Solutions for EMF/EMR exposure, backed by published science
Genomics applied to environmental illness in today’s medical landscape
Why this Conference is Important, NOW
”The leading toxic stressors (contributing to COVID-19) are pervasive, contributing to myriad chronic diseases as well as immune system degradation. They increase the likelihood for comorbidities and mortality associated with COVID-19.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and previous pandemics have been viewed almost exclusively as virology problems, with toxicology problems mostly being ignored.
This perspective is not supported by the evolution of COVID-19, where the impact of real-life exposures to multiple toxic stressors degrading the immune system is followed by the SARS-CoV-2 virus exploiting the degraded immune system to trigger a chain of events ultimately leading to COVID-19.”
(Kostoff RN, Briggs MB, Porter AL, Hernández AF, Abdollahi M, Aschner M, Tsatsakis A. The under-reported role of toxic substance exposures in the COVID-19 pandemic. Food Chem Toxicol. 2020 Nov;145:111687. PMID: 32805343)
At EHS 2022, we will focus on these stressors and create a way forward so providers can identify and treat these exposures in their patients.
What’s Important for Clinicians
In this unprecedented time of challenge in a rapidly changing world, EHS will focus on what we believe to be the most crucial information:
Inflammation has been shown to increase susceptibility to Covid19 and an underlying mechanism for many disease states, including obesity, insulin resistance and cardiometabolic disease
Reversing inflammatory pathways that lead to cardiometabolic disease, obesity, insulin resistance, and autoimmunity is challenging and requires additional strategies; dietary changes alone are not enough
Immune damage and vascular inflammation/thrombotic effects of electromagnetic fields (EMF) have been evident in the medical literature for over 50 years and largely ignored by the medical community; an understanding of EMF exposure needs to become a standard part of patient education in the treatment plan
Immune resilience strategies involve more than pills - lifestyle modification strategies that include toxicant avoidance should be included in patient treatment
Medical providers need to understand how to evaluate patients for the negative effects of toxicant-exposure, lectures will include patient handouts for practitioners to add to their clinical toolbox
Confronting the Elephant in the Exam Room
We are practicing medicine in a world where toxicant exposure complexed with acute and chronic infections increasingly inhabit and complicate the landscape of human health - where immunity to viruses and other pathogens, like Lyme and its coinfections, are increasingly compromised by toxicants - for example, endocrine disruptors which damage T cell viability are found in 75-100% of the US population.
How do we begin to navigate and find solutions to the complex interplay of acute and chronic infections, toxic exposure and immune disruption that impact our ability to thrive?
Join us at EHS 2022 and explore the conundrum of the complex patient. EHS faculty will provide attendees information in the context of published research and clinical data as we have at our annual conferences over the last 10 years. By attending EHS 2022, you will gain the tools to immediately implement in your clinical practice.
Paving the Way
Join us for EHS 2022 and connect with the growing community of healthcare providers committed to offering answers to the increasing number of patients with conditions related to toxic environmental exposures.
Environmental Health Symposium is the leader in Environmental Medicine education
COVID-19
We are all learning to navigate our way through the current times and as such, we have decided to hold Environmental Health Symposium 2022 as an in-person event at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona.
As we plan for the EHS 2022, the health and safety of our exhibitors, attendees, sponsors, speakers and staff is our top priority.
We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation. We are in close collaboration with our conference hotel (Loews Ventana Canyon Resort) and will continue to review local and state recommendations to make sure EHS is following recommended guidelines. Our protocols will reflect the most current advice and best practices.
The value of face to face contact is immeasurable and we are taking every effort to make sure your experience at this year’s conference will be invaluable!!
Please continue to check our event website (www.EnvironmentalHealthSymposium.com) for updates as we move closer to the conference date. We thank you for your support and we can’t wait to see you.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK:
By voluntarily attending the EHS 2022 conference in Tucson, Arizona, you are aware and understand the risks related to contracting COVID-19 and assume all responsibility for attending the in-person conference.
